I created an admin station to process eBay API updates with a click. A unique system architecture made it possible to add metadata via graphical user interfaces. At first I was able to host the site on a single leased server, but I soon discovered it was more cost effective to purchase hardware outright. I setup two RAID servers at a top-rated New York ISP.

I created a hosted solution which is Software as a Service (SaaS) - a pure online business model. It is also the first site to offer free superzoom pictures and holds a record of more than 99.99% up-time five years running. Press coverage in Entrepreneur, Auctionbytes, 'Starting an EBay Business for Dummies,' and others. It has over 20,000 product attributes for ecommerce and an Admin Station that facilitates management of product meta-data.

The ecommerce site was re-written from the ground up using Ruby in 2008. It has custom rules for shipping, age verification, and data synchronization with the back office. A custom private tagging system brings some of the staff's subject matter expertise to the forefront of the site in a way that can not be easily imitated by competitors.

Sean Combs launched a new album at the same time he decided to change his moniker from "Puffy" to "P-Diddy". The bidding process was competitive but we came up with the best ideas and delivered the goods. Pitched, wrote specifications, developed, and launched a dynamic rich media website and content management system for this well known recording artist to coincide with a major name change and the release of a new album.

Developed a working prototype using touch screen displays, infrared remote controls, sensors, and handheld devices that could be installed in walls.

I was contracted to help integrate a .Net/SQL Server program built by Satyam for The Lighthouse. Soon after this work was completed, I started my first professional ruby on rails project. I was offered the opportunity to re-engineer the EVRR system using Ruby on Rails. In my role as architect and programmer of back-end management tools, I performed the daily build process and migrated all customer records from a legacy AS/400 server to the new system while the old system remained active. A key goal was achieved: developing software that automatically adapts to the organization’s changing requirements. The new software is used to assist clinicians according to best practices in vision rehabilitation and has been licensed for use in facilities in the United States and Canada.

Knowledge management Intranet application for Pfizer, the fastest growing pharmaceutical company in the world. As a sub-contractor for KLP my role was to help specify, develop, and launch a people-centric knowledgebase. Our knowledgebase focused on human biographies and personal interaction over document summaries. Subject matter experts could manage their own biography and respond to questions from other intranet users to solve business problems.

By building upon informal processes that work our intranet facilitated both day-to-day productivity and learning.

I invented a server plugin that generates code for dynamic database driven web pages and web forms. I obtained a provisional patent for it and allowed thousands of users to download and install the program for free. Some users payed extra for a license.

Developed an electronic gift registry system for this Fortune 500 online, retail, and mail order company. Many of the company's customers are under 13 years old and privacy was of the utmost concern. The workflow that I developed continues to operate to this day. Originally it was an ASP wrapper on Ecometry Weborder running atop AS/400 servers.

I built the backend for this highly customizable and personalized site. We offered users the chance to build and save their own personalized world portal and won a "Shocked Site Of The Day!" award from Macromedia.

Concrete Media was a VC backed new media company with three separate divisions, Bolt.com, Girlson.com, and a professional services division. As Technology Director for this promising startup company, I was tasked with building the infrastructure to turn an popular but primitive movie review site into something capable of reaching a broader audience. We branched out from movie reviews to all sorts of media and implemented an IMDB style database with Amazon style recommendations for a large niche audience. I guided and helped develop all of the interactive portions of the site as well as the administrative tools. Girlson.com was eventually acquired by the Oxygen Media Network. As IT Director I had 3 direct reports and hired additional contractors to help launch our product ahead of schedule.

Responsible for product integration, configuration, and demonstration at customer sites. Developed a “talking” shopping basket GUI in Java. I was directly involved in developing many well known sites including Fedex, CDW, NetGrocer.com, and others. Traveled to customer locations in three countries. Developed cutting edge product enhancements for demonstration at tradeshows, client sites, and technical pre-sales.

Originally hired as an intern, I helped to manage the research and development for Erwin, a leading data modeling solution. Setup, customized, and managed the company’s bug tracking system. Built the company's first website on my own initiative in 1994. Responsible for budgets, hardware and software, and new product development. Built a web based graphical lead-generator that integrated with the company email system using HTML image maps, CGI, and PERL, on a Sun Netra I. This lead generator captured and automatically redirected 500 qualified customer leads in real time to the District Managers each month.
